In-house Competencies

Where local expertise meets global capability

STRABAG brings together specialist construction, engineering and technical services to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects across Australia. By combining local market knowledge with global expertise, we help clients plan, design and deliver practical, high-quality solutions across civil construction, tunnelling, water infrastructure, transport infrastructure and major project delivery.

With Australian teams on the ground and direct access to STRABAG’s international network of technical specialists, we bring proven methods, digital construction tools and advanced construction technologies to the Australian market. This connection allows us to respond to local project challenges with practical insight while drawing on global capability from across the STRABAG Group.

  • Ground engineering for Australian infrastructure

STRABAG’s ground engineering capability supports the safe and efficient delivery of complex infrastructure in challenging ground conditions. Through the expertise of ZÜBLIN Ground Engineering and the broader STRABAG network, we provide specialist support for foundations, excavation support, ground improvement, tunnelling interfaces, retaining structures and geotechnical solutions for major civil, transport, water and energy projects.

Ground freezing and specialist geotechnical solutions

Ground freezing is a proven geotechnical construction method used to stabilise water-bearing or unstable ground, supporting safer excavation and construction in complex conditions.

As part of the STRABAG Group, ZÜBLIN Ground Engineering applies specialist ground freezing techniques to create temporary, highly stable barriers that support tunnelling, shafts, excavations and other technically demanding works. This approach can help reduce disruption, improve construction certainty and support more sustainable project outcomes.

By circulating a chilled saline solution through installed steel pipes, groundwater is frozen to strengthen and stabilise the soil. This enables construction in areas where conventional methods may be difficult, particularly in waterlogged ground, dense urban environments or technically complex infrastructure projects.

  • Central Technical Division – engineering and digital construction expertise

STRABAG’s Central Technical Division provides in-house engineering, planning and construction process expertise for complex projects. Its capability spans civil engineering, tunnelling, structural engineering, transport infrastructure, turnkey construction and digital construction, supporting project teams from early planning and tender development through to design, delivery and specialist construction management.

For Australian clients and project partners, this means access to international technical knowledge, proven engineering methods and digital tools that improve planning, coordination and delivery. STRABAG’s BIM 5D® capability connects design, time, cost and process information to support more transparent decision-making, better constructability and stronger project outcomes. The Central Technical Division also contributes to innovation, sustainability and knowledge-sharing across the Group, helping bring current global best practice to the Australian construction market.

  • Materials technology, quality assurance and innovation

TPA is STRABAG’s specialist materials technology and quality assurance capability, supporting construction projects with expertise in asphalt, concrete, earthworks and geotechnical engineering. Through testing, technical advice and applied innovation, TPA helps project teams select appropriate materials, improve construction methods and maintain quality across the project lifecycle. This capability strengthens STRABAG’s ability to deliver reliable, durable and high-performing infrastructure for Australian conditions.
