Australian STRABAG subsidiary Georgiou secures contracts worth € 190 million in mobility infrastructure and health care

STRABAG SE, through its wholly owned Australian subsidiary Georgiou Group Pty Ltd, has announced two major project wins in Australia, reinforcing its strategic presence in both mobility infrastructure and healthcare construction.

Transforming one of Brisbane’s critical transport links

Georgiou, as part of the Gateway Connect Joint Venture (GCJV), has been awarded a share of the 568-million-euro-project Gateway to Bruce Highway Upgrade (G2BU) in Brisbane. Georgiou’s portion of the contract is valued at around 170 million euros.
 
Commissioned by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, the project will upgrade the key transport corridor linking the Gateway and Bruce Highways, enhancing road safety, traffic efficiency, and travel reliability. Key works include motorway widening, upgrades to interchanges and highway curves, a new local road access, and staged improvements to surrounding infrastructure. Shared pathways will encourage walking and cycling, while environmental measures including wildlife fencing and underpasses will protect local habitats and promote sustainability. Construction will span four years, with completion expected by mid-2030.

Delivering vital healthcare infrastructure in Perth

In a separate contract, Georgiou has been appointed by Australian Development Capital and project partner DermCo to construct a state-of-the-art medical facility in Claremont, Perth. The project worth 22.6 million euros is part of a broader development and will be fully delivered by Georgiou. It will feature spaces for a pharmacy, urgent care, pathology, dermatology, and other specialist practices.
With Western Australia’s population continuing to grow and age, demand for quality healthcare is rising fast. The state faces increasing pressure to expand and modernise its health infrastructure to keep pace with community needs, particularly in high-growth urban areas like Perth.
 
The 4,900 sqm medical facility to be built by Georgiou is designed to be 100% carbon neutral in operation. Construction is already underway and will continue through 2027. The project builds on Georgiou’s Health portfolio which includes current works at the Fiona Stanley Hospital Precinct and previous projects for Ramsay Healthcare, St John of God and the State Government Hospital sites.
